And Then What?

I liked being short. I would sit
On my daddy’s knee and he’d
Bounce me. The stairs were

Vast mountains and I was there
To climb them. My mummy
Would tuck me in every night

After I had struggled into my
Train engine pyjamas. The TV
Would entertain me. I could go

To Andrews house whenever I
Wanted to without ringing up.
We would play in the garden.

My nanny would sing me songs
From Slovakia and I would try
To sing them back to her. I

Would work and laugh at the
Same time. The playground had
Worms in it. And things were big.

Wow, really reminds me of childhood. Especially how everything's really big-then you go back to it years later an realise that you were just really tiny... nice work!

This is gorgeous, gorgeous work :) I'm listening to Sigur ros at the moment and something about the innocence of this goes really well...i love the breaks (are they called ceasuras or have i forgotten what I was taught), especially,

I could go

Wanted to without ringing up.

I often think about simpler days...just this weekend in fact. It was far too beautiful outside for me to be working. These are things we take for granted when we are little. We don't know any better and why should we? I don't think that kind of innocents allows one to care about such things so far ahead of oneself...

all too true.

thank you for stopping by :)

Frederick, i'd like to have a little book of your work to carry round with me. It's really remarkable stuff.
You manage to capture a picture perfect moment every time...an extended thought that keeps you smiling all day. A lasting effect, now that's an achievement.

I don't believe in pulling apart, so my comments may not seem constructive. What i do believe in, is FEELING a poem..and it has been a long while since i felt the way i did reading this.

xx

I enjoyed reading this, it reminded me of my own, quite different childhood :-) sent it to a friend as a kind of something interesting to read before sleep
